West Coast Thunder is the largest Memorial Day motorcycle ride west of the Mississippi, drawing thousands of riders annually to pay tribute to the men and women of our military who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
Proceeds benefit monument construction and other ancillary services at the Riverside National Cemetery. West Coast Thunder is a tax-exempt, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.
Each year, more than 7,500 motorcyclists pack the street of Indiana Avenue in Riverside, California, to observe and participate in the tradition of West Coast Thunder. Riders line the streets in front of Riverside Harley-Davidson, stretching over two miles long, covering four lanes. The ride is led by the West Coast Thunder Color Guard, which is made up of motorcycle riders who are military veterans.
The parade is escorted by local law enforcement, including the California Highway Patrol. This allows the thousands of motorcycle riders a safe police escort to the venue. The community lines the streets waving flags, veterans saluting in full uniform, and children holding signs as the parade travels through the surface streets.
Donations to West Coast Thunder Foundation help build monuments and provide ancillary support resources to the Riverside National Cemetery.
One of the most active veteran memorial cemeteries in the United States, Riverside National Cemetery is a resting place dedicated to United States Military personnel.
